MILPITAS, CA -- LSI Logic has announced the acquisition of Pune, India-based Metta Technology, Inc. for approximately $7 million in cash. The company develops multimedia system-on-chip technology and software for consumer electronics products. LSI purchased the company to increase their focus on next generation digital video and entertainment products in the consumer sector. Under the terms of the agreement, LSI will retain the entire 60-person workforce and has acquired the entire stock of the company. The transaction is not expected to have a material impact on LSI operations.
